WOWK-TV is the CBS affiliate in beautiful Charleston-Huntington, WV, and we are looking for an energetic, warm and team-oriented journalist to anchor our weekend newscasts. You will be the face of our show and the first person our viewers see on the weekends. You will also play a key leadership role in our newsroom, make critical decisions, and pitch in when necessary. 13 News is a collaborative, encouraging and POSITIVE place to work. The Weekend Anchor/MMJ serves as the primary presenter of news stories and other content for all platforms in a manner that is clear, engaging, and meaningful to news consumers.
Responsibilities:
• Anchors weekend television newscasts and other dayparts as assigned, both in the studio and the field. • Anchors additional content on digital platforms, including wowktv.com, Facebook, Twitter, and other sites. • Writes content for broadcast, online and other platforms. • Produces TV newscasts, including story selection, writing, video editing, production cues, and other necessary steps to ensure the newscasts are ready for air. • Acts as multimedia journalist when not anchoring. • Works with management to enterprise and develop news stories. • Demonstrates compelling storytelling using dynamic live shots and standups. • Ensures that all news content meets company standards for journalistic integrity, accuracy, and quality. • Shoots and edits video. • Participates in promotional activities including public appearances. • Performs special projects as assigned.Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Communication/Journalism or related degree required (equivalent years of experience may substitute for education • Two years of television anchoring or reporting experience or equivalent required • Solid vocal delivery, camera presence, and clear enunciation • Strong reporting skills • Collaborates with newsroom teammates in an encouraging, positive, and respectful manner. • Operate newsroom computer systemsContact:
