About Us: KRWG Public Media is seeking a skilled, experienced Chief Broadcast Technician to oversee the technical operations of our TV/FM operation. This role is essential in ensuring the seamless delivery of high-quality broadcast programming to our audience.
We are located in beautiful Las Cruces, NM with over 300 days of sunshine annually. We offer a generous benefits package that includes health, dental, vision, retirement pension, tuition benefits and much more. Starting salary, $60,000, D.O.E.
Position Summary: The Chief Broadcast Technician is responsible for the day-to-day management, supervision, and engineering of KRWG Public Media’s broadcast operations. This includes overseeing staff, managing budgets, designing technical systems, planning infrastructure, and ensuring the smooth operation of all broadcast and non-broadcast technical systems.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee installation, maintenance, and expansion of the station's transmission network.
• Plan, implement, and manage procedures for studio, remote control, and RF transmission equipment.
• Conduct equipment research, vendor comparisons, and cost analysis for technical systems and projects.
• In-depth knowledge of broadcast systems, circuitry design, and installation.
• Manage technical aspects of purchasing and oversee construction projects.
• Provide technical advice and consultation to internal and external stakeholders.
• Lead, train, and mentor staff, students, and interns.
• Maintain accurate records, logs, and reports according to FCC and regulatory requirements.
• Troubleshoot and repair RF transmission equipment.
• Stay up-to-date on broadcast technology and industry trends.
• Work flexible hours, including weekends and on-call shifts.
• Strong understanding of FCC regulations and industry standards.
• Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of five years of progressive management experience
• Equivalency- Completion of a post-secondary degree or certificate may substitute for years of experience.
