Internship/Mentoring Program

Troy Public Radio offers students seeking experience in radio production the opportunity to work in the field firsthand as an intern for the network. Our student interns are considered producers and reporters for Troy Public Radio and will learn all facets of audio production including: recording, editing, broadcasting, online publishing, voice tracking, and on-air work. Students in our program will craft features and spots for our network. Currrent student producers have also filed reports for national networks such as NPR. Your internship at Troy Public Radio may be used for school credit or professional experience.

Please follow the application instructions carefully, incomplete applications will not be considered for internships.


  • Interns are expected to complete three reporting projects by the end of the semester. (two-way, feature, voxpop/news spot)
  • Interns are expected to participate in a collaborative effort to complete weekly Talk of Troy segments. This can include scheduling interviews, performing interviews, tracking, writing, editing audio, or other duties as assigned.
  • Interns are expected to be present every day that they are scheduled, unless they get approval for absence at least 24 hours ahead of time.
  • Interns are expected to be punctual. If an intern is running late, notice should be given as soon as possible.
  • Interns are expected to exhibit professional and courteous behavior in the workplace and to dress professionally for work.
  • Failure to meet these expectations may result in dismissal from the internship.
