We are seeking an energetic, experienced sales professional build support for two great institutions: TROY Public Radio and the TROY Today magazine.  If youre someone who understands what a great public radio station and a great public university can do for the local community and the world at large, then please apply!

The University Media Development Coordinator position is responsible for serving as the underwriting and ad sales representative for Troy University owned media; reporting to the TROY Public Radio operations manager and working closely with the University’s director of marketing to generate funds to support the University’s public radio station and institutional magazine; prospecting clients and donors; selling space and underwriting opportunities; stewarding client and donor relationships; writing radio spots that meet the unique needs of public radio; working with a team in the design of magazine ads; supporting on-air fund drives; supporting grant-writing and various fundraising efforts; promoting fundraising and programming through social media; and other duties as assigned.


1. Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, journalism, or related field
2. Minimum of two years of experience in one or more of the following areas: campaign planning, client and donor prospecting, media sales, writing for the media, negotiating and closing sales agreements, placing media buys, and setting schedules
3. Valid state driver’s license and clear driving record
4. Demonstrated success in communication on behalf of an employer using email, direct mail, social media, personal sales and/or other communication tactics
5. Demonstrated success in cultivating positive client/donor relationships
6. Ability to be organized, detail-oriented and meet firm deadlines
7. Appreciation for the special contributions universities and public radio make to their communities
8. Ability to demonstrate individual initiative as well as team spirit
9. Ability to show self-motivation, initiative, and the desire to increase the funds available to support the missions of the University and of TROY Public Radio
10. Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills


Preferred Qualifications
1. Experience with a broadcast traffic system, including creating traffic schedules and entering orders
2. Experience in multimedia sales: broadcast, print and digital
3. Experience in developing complex fundraising campaigns and annual calendars
4. Experience in planning and executing outreach and membership events
5. Experience in using a membership/fundraising database, and specifically Raiser’s Edge
6. Skill in advanced database and Microsoft Excel data analysis
7. Experience writing grants and administering grant-related projects
8. Experience creating promotional and product materials (media kits, premiums, etc.)
9. Experience with public, non-commercial radio
10. Knowledge of public radio underwriting
