We’re not just looking for another manager, but a leader to help transform the WGBA, NBC 26 newsroom. The Scripps station in Green Bay, Wisconsin has an immediate opening for an Assistant News Director. If you’re a confident, self-motivated, dedicated news lover this position is for you.

Qualified candidates should know how to listen, learn, assess challenges and opportunities, collaborate to find solutions, and implement change. You should have a healthy appetite for risk in trying something new. You must be good with multitasking and prioritization in order to meet deadlines.

The Assistant News Director is responsible for the gathering, production and distribution of news content on multiple platforms.


You Will:

  • Oversee day to day newsroom operations and staff.
  • Ability to manage cross platform content creation and distribution.
  • Write copy and edit scripts for air.
  • Create tactics and strategies to increase demos performance in key target areas for multiple platforms.
  • Implement and have working knowledge of federal, state and local laws impacting operations.
  • Lead coverage planning of major events.
  • Involved in hiring and performance management of direct reports
  • Assist News Director in the on-going evaluation of personnel
  • Handle schedules for newsroom employees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


You Bring:

  • Advanced oral and written communication skills.
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office.
  • Broad understanding of newsroom operations and equipment.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast paced environment.
