WTIC Newstalk 1080 is looking for two experienced, energetic, enthusiastic and creative team players for our Morning/Afternoon News Anchor position and our Afternoon/Evening News Anchor position.  


  • Producing and anchoring news segments.
  • Gathering, writing, recording, editing and delivering news content inclusive of providing live coverage when breaking news occurs.
  • Phone reporting
  • Interviewing news makers
  • Writing scripted material for stories
  • Development and research of potential news stories
  • Writing stories and posting content to our website
  • Operating the audio board and other digital equipment
  • Protecting the station’s FCC license.
  • Must join AFTRA; if not already a member.
  • Other duties as required by management


Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years experience in anchoring or reporting news for broadcast media.  Must be computer literate and have excellent writing skills.   Must be proficient in editing and packaging news sound and interviews. Position requires valid state driver’s license and required insurance.  Knowledge of the broadcast area and station demographics is essential; 4 year degree preferred.

Candidates must be 110% reliable and have a strong sense of responsibility; must be able/willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays.  

These positions requires a 6 day work week.  The hours for the Morning/Afternoon News Anchor position are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm with one weekend shift and the hours for the Afternoon/Evening News Anchor position are Monday – Friday 3pm – 11pm with one weekend shift.
