POSITION PURPOSE:

 

One of Americas best sports cities and biggest sports radio stations is looking for an Assistant Executive Producer to help produce entertaining and compelling programming for Sports Radio 104.3 The Fan (KKFN-FM) and ESPN Denver 1600 (KEPN-AM). This position will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of ESPN Denver 1600 while managing the entire staff of board-operators and handling clerical and technical duties on both sports stations. The Assistant Executive Producer will be responsible for helping the Executive Producer and Program Director with a variety of tasks including teaching and coaching, sales deliverables, and creative station strategy.

 

Responsibilities:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Oversee all aspects of ESPN Denver 1600, monitoring the station for peak performance.
Serve as point of contact for all brokered clients and prospects on both sports stations.
Select, hire, train, coach, develop, manage, appraise, and direct board operators in a manner that helps them maximize their potential and their contribution to the company and our platforms.
On-call contact during evenings and weekends to assist board-operators with questions or issues.
Schedule all board operators while monitoring the number of hours they are scheduled to work.
Responsible for maintaining master programming schedules on both sports stations that includes events, play-by-play, vacations, holidays, etc.
Schedule play-by-play events and resolve conflicts by coordinating with multiple departments and interfacing with broadcast partners.
Work directly with KKFN/KEPN Traffic Manager to review and maintain traffic logs daily.
Oversee all aspects of Zetta digital interface, including prebuilding logs to match master schedule.
Manage KKFN/KEPN satellite interfaces for play-by-play and network broadcast partners.
Serve as point of contact for play-by-play broadcast partners, managing their schedule, inventory and ensuring quality connectivity.
Assist in writing, producing and inserting daily imaging.
Participate in creative sessions with Executive Producer and Program Director to help strategize direction of both sports stations.
Report equipment problems, update discrepancy reports to communicate any occurrence that departs from program log or quality goals.
Liaison with marketing, sales, and imaging departments to insure all sales deliverables are met.
Understand and implement best practices for ratings success.
Find, record, edit and mix audio on deadline.
Attend sporting events to gather audio and assist in social media presence.
Cross-train on other shifts in the event of scheduling emergencies. Fill-in on those shifts.
Back up play-by-play board operator.
Set up and run remote broadcast equipment ensuring quality programming.
Attend promotions, sales, digital and other meetings as assigned by the Executive Producer or Program Director.
Other duties as assigned by the Executive Producer or Program Director.
 

Requirements:

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

Extremely detail-oriented.
Knowledgeable in all areas of running an audio-board.
Able to work independently primarily, but take coaching and direction from management as well.
Proficiency with Microsoft computer software programs and social media platforms.
Understanding of sound production.
Well organized and highly attentive to detail.
Proven ability to handle stress and multi-task.
Excellent time management skills and flexibility.
Work effectively in a team environment.
Familiar with laws on libel and slander and familiar with FCC Rules and Regulations.
Work in compliance with company policies, procedures, and brand.
Project an appropriate professional appearance and demeanor.
Ability to consistently work hours required. 
Works more when required to meet deadlines including weekends, evenings, etc.
Maintain confidentiality by not discussing internal matters, company strategies, clients proprietary information, personnel matters, wage and salary information or any sensitive information with clients, competitors, listeners, the media or inappropriately with co-workers, and by not distributing our proprietary research or other information to our competitors.
 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Over five years of experience as a board-operator/producer.
Expertise in operating on-air management software, preferably Zetta (previously known as NexGen).
Understanding of Adobe Audition.
Knowledge of sports news and rules, particularly local Colorado teams.
Able to set up ISDN, Comrex, etc. and help direct technical aspects.
Digital video production and social media platform skills.
 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Receive, process, and maintain information through oral and/or written communication effectively
Substantial physical movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
Ability to extend hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction with good eye and hand coordination
Lift, move, and carry up to 20 pounds on occasion
