The Financial Analyst for Denali Media will provide accurate financial information and support decision making by performing financial analyses and offering recommendations based on interpretation of analyses. Maintains financial records and adheres to controls and procedures for the financial stewardship and proper utilization of Company assets in compliance with Company policy and reporting requirements.


Essential Duties of Position the Financial Analyst:

Overall financial analysis including revenues, cost of goods sold, operating costs, capital, commercial inventory and key metrics for all DMH products and services:
Assist in preparing and maintaining annual budgets, rolling eight quarter forecasts, and 5 Year Plans for revenues, costs of goods sold, and expenses;
Accurate and timely preparation of journal entries ranging from simple to complex with appropriate backup documentation to include creation and maintenance of supporting spreadsheets. 
Accurate, detailed and timely analytical review of financial results fluctuations as needed to comply with Accounting department requests, Sarbanes-Oxley control activity and/or external auditor requests.
Analysis support for the Accounting department as needed.
Report on commercial inventory yield management, Average Unit Rate, EBITDA, barter/trade agreements, Alaska Airlines’ Mileage Plan incentive program and key metrics.  Provide variance analyses to budget and prior periods;
Assist in preparing and maintaining “Public File” materials required for FCC compliance;
Prepare/maintain written desk procedures and provide budget and coding advice;
Conduct revenue assurance for DMH products and services;
Provide information for regulatory reporting;
Contribute to investor, banking, and Board of Directors presentations
Prepare capital requests/business cases, capital forecasts, and placed-in-service
Identify and implement ways to increase EBITDA and reduce capital.


Knowledge, Skills and Ability:

Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) required.
Demonstrated ability to prepare and review financial analyses and documents, maintaining consistent analysis methodologies, finding and resolving errors in imported data and minimizing forecasting and analysis errors a must.
Ability to efficiently develop financial computer models.
Ability to move easily between detail and conceptual levels.
Manage multiple projects with minimal supervision within varying and changing priorities and timelines.
Broadcasting/Cable industry knowledge including basic familiarity with local, network and syndicated programming, live mobile production, digital assets, commercial production, and advertising inventory management highly desired.
Computer knowledge: proficiency with Microsoft Excel including Spreadsheet Server; Microsoft Word; knowledge of accounting system.
Knowledge of Wide Orbit and Eclipse traffic and billing systems or equivalent desired.
Communication skills: Demonstrated ability to: listen effectively to obtain technical information; verbally communicate (telephone, one-on-one and group presentations) technical requirements, costs, time scheduling information; respectfully demand personnel time and information necessary to meet deadlines; and prepare accurate and decipherable written reports and recommendations; must be able to communicate with personnel at all levels of the company. 
Interpersonal skills: Demonstrated ability to work well with others under stressful, time restricted conditions, displaying patience and tolerance and promoting teamwork.

Physical Requirements: 

Maneuvering/lifting office equipment, paperwork, materials, and/or supplies of up to 20-pound loads occasionally, less weight more frequently.
Daily office tasks frequently involve operation of standard office equipment (phone, fax, and copier) and computer and processing of paperwork, typically requiring sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, grasping, pushing, pulling, lifting, repetitive motions, talking, hearing, and seeing.
Daily computer information retrieval and keyboard manipulation, typically by sight, sound and/or touch.
Daily maneuvering workplace, typically sitting, standing, walking, and climbing steps.

Working Conditions: Most activities conducted inside under pleasant climatic conditions.  Work can be intense and stressful due to time/resource limitations when scheduling multiple tasks with inflexible deadlines. The company and its subsidiaries operate in a 24/7 environment providing critical services to Alaskans and may need to respond to public health and safety matters or other business emergencies. Due to business needs employees may be contacted outside of the normal business hours to respond to the immediate emergency. As such, you will be requested to provide emergency after hours contact numbers, to include your home and cell phone numbers if you have those services.

Minimum Qualifications:

Six years cumulative experience in budget/forecast preparation, financial analysis, general ledger accounting including business/project plan analysis of which, three years progressively responsible general ledger accounting experience. Experience in the Broadcasting/Cable industry highly desired.

High School diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or Mathematics required.  In addition to minimum experience required, a combination of relevant education and experience sufficient to perform the duties may be substituted for the degree requirement on a year for year basis.

Certification/Advanced Degrees: CPA and or CFA Certifications and/or MBA Degree are desired, but not required.
