Maine Public is seeking a full-time Broadcast and Special Projects Engineer to join our Technology team in Lewiston, Maine. The Broadcast and Special Projects Engineer is responsible for the maintenance and operation of television/radio transmitters and digital RF Transmission systems. This position reports to the Transmission Manager and encompasses the configuration, design, and testing of computer systems for control and monitoring of transmission equipment, along with assisting with the engineering, design, installation, and implementation of any new technology related projects. The Broadcast and Special Projects Engineer designs and implements complex control systems, using hand-on computer and networking skills, to be used for systems interconnecting transmission facilities that conform to Industry IT standards. The Broadcast and Special Projects Engineer will provide assistance in the Technology Department when needed in the engineering, design, installation, implementation, and troubleshooting of systems.


Job Requirements:  Five years’ experience in high power RF equipment required. Four years college training in Electrical Engineering, CIS, or equivalent experience and comprehensive IT skills required. Ability to work independently in the design and implementation of complex computer systems needed. Position requires the ability to travel to remote sites and operate snowmobiles, ATV, or other equipment.  Walking, sitting, standing for extended period is required. Must be able to lift at least forty (40) pounds. A valid driver’s license is required. Regular travel to all Maine Public locations  and some evening and weekend work is required as assigned.
