WHAM/WUHF in Rochester, NY, seeks a dynamic newscast producer to take charge of all aspects of producing assigned newscasts. You will play a major role in determining newscast content, writing and editing stories, and creating graphic elements that help bring our stories home to the viewers. The producer will also contribute to our web and social media efforts.



  • Writing news stories, headlines and teases for on-air, web, and social media. 
  • Contacting news sources for story information.
  • Producing newscast rundowns.
  • Making editorial decisions and contributing daily story and content ideas.
  • Communicating with news crews in the field and disseminating information internally.
  • Conceiving and creating graphics for news stories.
  • Contributing content to web, Facebook, and Twitter.
  • Timing newscasts and communicating newscast directions to news and production staff.
  • Special projects and assignment editing as needed.
  • Hours: Must be available to work all shifts including early mornings, overnights, weekends, and holidays.



  • Knowledge of Broadcast Journalism.  
  • Knowledge of ENG, SNG, electronic graphics, social media, web and newsroom computers.
  • Ability to work well with others. 
  • Creativity, people skills, and a positive, can-do attitude are needed.
  • Ability to write concise, broadcast-style scripts.
  • Ability to make quick decisions under strict deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with managers and co-workers.
  • Flexibility to adjust to fast changing newscast developments.
  • Valid driver license.
  • Two plus years’ broadcast experience and a college degree preferred.
