Position Overview

At KSL NewsRadio and KSL TV, we’re seeking a skilled Digital Content Specialist, YouTube to join our digital team. This role is crucial in transforming our news content into engaging YouTube videos while maximizing channel monetization.

 

Note: Work configurations are subject to change based on business needs and at company discretion.

This position is a hybrid role that requires the employee to regularly work at our Salt Lake City site. Specific hybrid schedules will be determined based on business needs and evaluated by managers and senior management.

Compensation

$21.00 – $27.00. Hourly rate to be determined by multiple factors including but not limited to evaluation of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant along with internal equity and alignment with market data.

Responsibilities:

What You Will Do: Primary job duties will include, but are not limited to: Edit and produce high-quality news video content for KSL's YouTube channel, ensuring it aligns with our journalistic standards and audience expectations Transform raw news footage into compelling, shareable stories optimized for YouTube audiences Create attention-grabbing thumbnails, titles and descriptions to boost video performance Manage multiple news projects simultaneously, meeting tight deadlines in our fast-paced newsroom environment Utilize YouTube analytics to track video performance and suggest data-driven improvements for content and monetization strategies Implement various monetization techniques, including strategic ad placement and exploring opportunities for sponsored content Stay updated on YouTube's content policies and monetization best practices

Requirements:

Skills and Experience We Are Looking For:   The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for newsworthy content, a deep understanding of YouTube's monetization strategies, and the ability to execute our digital news vision while contributing valuable insights to our overall YouTube strategy. They should be able to balance the need for engaging content with the responsibility of delivering accurate and timely news to our audience. Proven experience in news video editing, preferably for broadcast or digital media organizations Proficiency in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro or similar tools Strong understanding of YouTube's platform, including its algorithms and best practices for news content creators Excellent news judgment and storytelling skills with the ability to create engaging, factual content Knowledge of SEO and content optimization techniques specific to YouTube and news content Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced newsroom environment Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Film, Media Production or related field (or equivalent experience) Experience in a newsroom or broadcast media environment Familiarity with YouTube Analytics and other digital performance tracking tools Knowledge of graphic design and motion graphics to enhance news video presentations Understanding of journalistic ethics and standards in the context of social media content Physical Demands Receive, process, and maintain information through oral and/or written communication effectively. Manual dexterity and fine motor skills to operate computer keys and general office equipment. Ability to work on a computer for prolonged periods of time. Sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
