WWL-TV, the TEGNA-owned CBS affiliate in New Orleans, LA is looking for a highly skilled and creative Investigative Photojournalist to join their award-winning Investigative Team. The journalist WWL is looking for understands how to use the best tools to tell complex stories, sometimes with challenging visual options. The right candidate will also show a willingness to break the mold with visual storytelling.

Investigative experience is important. This photojournalist needs to know how to best elevate both short-term and long-term investigative projects on issues that impact our communities. The successful candidate must be eager to tell powerful stories with a team by capturing creative video & audio elements for these stories in a deadline environment. This candidate should also be skilled editor with sharp post-production skills including motion graphics design.

Responsibilities:

- Operates within the highest standards of journalistic integrity, - Passion for capturing video & audio elements that produce compelling and engaging investigations for audiences on all platforms, - Edits stories with Edius or Adobe Premiere with the ability to adapt to other editing platforms as needed, - Knowledge of After Effects is a plus, - Investigative photography and storytelling experience preferred, - FAA-licensed drone pilot is a plus, - Ability to collaborate with reporters and producers or work independently and develop a vision for stories, - Ability to operate live remote equipment, - Familiarity with all distribution platforms including: Facebook, X formally known as Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, ect. - Attend editorial meetings, participate in discussions, and suggest story ideas, - Excellent organizational skills, - Fill in as needed for general assignment needs.

Requirements:

- BA/BS in journalism, communication or related field preferred, - 3-5 years of experience as a TV photojournalist and news editor preferred, - Investigative experience in broadcast journalism, - Must help promote a culture of innovative storytelling - Must be a positive contributor and collaborator, - Advance storytelling experienced required, - Must be able to tell the news story creatively with strong audio and visual skills, - Must be flexible with schedule, reliable and dependable, with ability to travel with short notice, - Active member of the National Press Photographers Association (NPPA) preferred, - Strong computer skills in a mobile environment required, - Must have a valid driver’s license, able to lift up to 40 lbs., occasionally up to 80 lbs. with or without an accommodation.
