The Creative Services Senior Manager creates production elements from a wide variety of genres and for a wide variety of uses. with planning and implementing quarterly, weekly and daily promotions.  Assists Director of Engineering as needed with selection of capital purchases.

 

 

 

 

Working Conditions: Duties will require both inside and outside work. 70% of time will be in an office environment usually in an office or edit bay setting. Up to 30% of the time will involve outside work in all weather conditions in Alaska as well as remote locations, will include harsh arctic environments. Travel on small single engine aircraft may be required. Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.

The Company and its subsidiaries operate in a 24/7 environment providing critical services to Alaskans and may need to respond to public health and safety matters or other business emergencies. Due to business needs employees may be contacted outside of the normal business hours to respond to the immediate emergency. As such, you will be required to provide emergency after hours contact numbers, to include your home and cell phone numbers if you have those services. 

 

 

 

 

Responsibilities:

Essential Duties of the Creative Services Senior Manager:

Business Operations Support

Coordinates with and assists Promotions Director with station promotions and campaigns.
Manages commercial production activities.  Prepares cost estimates for equipment and labor for commercial production activities. Operates production equipment (including planning, mobilization, shooting, demobilizing and editing). Facilitates training of other team members, in particular photographers. Provide pre-production and post-production support for sales clients to include shooting, editing, and other production support for the station’s clients.   Included are both commercial elements and multi camera remote productions and events.  This can include acting as the producer for additional elements for live events.
Live crew member for additional events and schedule other Production team members to fill positions in crews for events.
 

Leadership:

Supervises two or more full-time employees, or their equivalent.  Responsible for hiring, leading, developing and managing the performance by those reporting to this position; sets priorities and schedules; establishes and communicates clear performance expectations; and makes recommendations for salary increases.  Provide timely, accurate and thorough Performance Reviews for supervised employees and recommends and/or approves promotions, demotions, transfers or disciplinary actions up to and including termination. Responsible for team results.
Trains Production Department employees on photography, lighting and editing skills to improve their personal skill sets along with providing advanced training on the Denali Media systems themselves.

Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Demonstrated knowledge of broadcast rules, regulations and guidelines.
Knowledge of production and technical standards.
Knowledge of supervisory practices and principles.
Must be technically astute, highly organized and have a reputation for meeting deadlines. 
Strong verbal communication skills, particularly in the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization and outside clients.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as scripts, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
Must be able to reconcile divergent demands of multiple parties under tight timelines.
Technical Competencies:
Superior knowledge of non linear editing, Adobe After Effects, video camera operation, audio systems and lighting.
Knowledge of MS Office and other common office tools software required.
Ability to understand and quickly apply new technology.
 

People Skills:

Proven ability to collaborate within and outside assigned department and create an effective working environment for high traffic and/or potentially stressful workloads.

Physical Requirements:

Office & Field Position: Physical effort may include stooping, kneeling, touching, feeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.  Ability to lift and carry up to 35 lbs.. Must be able to walk for extended periods carrying equipment.

Hearing, vision, depth perception, and hand-to-eye coordination sufficient to perform job duties.  Visual and auditory acuity necessary to operate equipment and identify color-coding.  Ability to tolerate temperature and weather extremes. Strength stamina and coordination sufficient to perform job duties. 

Minimum qualifications:

·        Eight or more years’ experience in Broadcast Media required with specific experience in creating production elements from a wide variety of genres and for a wide variety of uses. To include one year in a supervisory role.

High school diploma or equivalent required. Associates Degree in Computer Science, Media or Technical related field required.  In addition to minimum experience required, degree may be substituted with relevant work experience on a year for year basis.

Driving Requirements: Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and a satisfactory driving record.
