Job Description

I. Job Summary | Major goals and objectives.

The Production Assistant position supports all aspects of news production, including operation of teleprompters and cameras (handheld, robotic, and jib).  This position also participates in all production responsibilities including studio preparation and cleaning, lighting, and working with on-air guests and talent.  This position also provides basic support to the continuous news workflow across all content platforms.

Operates all supporting production systems, including teleprompters and cameras (handheld, robotic, and jib).  Provides general support to all production processes and procedures, including working with on-air guests and talent.  Troubleshoots technical issues as they occur.


Provides support for all aspects of newscast production, including lighting and general studio preparation and cleaning.  Also provides support to the continuous news workflow by assisting with content preparation across all platforms.


Provides continuous feedback on daily performance and system status.  Communicates effectively and thoroughly with employees to prepare for and execute all duties assigned.




III. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.


Completion of high school, or equivalent.  Bachelor’s degree in broadcast television production or media preferred.


Introductory experience in a live broadcast television environment with preferred hands-on experience with teleprompters, cameras (handheld, robotic, and jib), and other control room systems.

Familiarity with the control room environment and communication workflows.
